"When are you going to start having kids?" is a question couples are sure to get after they are married.

 

Some couples start having kids right away. Some wait a year or two. But more and more young adults today are following trends of the world and are waiting 5+ years. Other couples long more than anything to have kids but are struggling with infertility, should you start sooner in case that becomes a problem? With so much to consider, couples wonder when is the "right time" to start trying?

 

The world tells you to do what is best for you and your spouse, but we believe there is a better way - God's way. The answer will still be unique to each couple, but they can find peace in knowing that they made the right choice, maybe not in their mother-in-law's eyes or in the world's, but in heaven's eyes.

 

Using scriptures, teachings from gospel leaders, and anecdotes we will focus on helping couples learn how they can figure out when is the right time for them to have children. We will also touch on topics like finding confidence and trust in God, avoiding falling prey to the "wisdom" of the world, infertility, and laying a solid foundation to start your family on.

Greater amounts of couples are struggling to conceive than ever before. If having children is a righteous desire than why is it sometimes so hard? Many couples wonder "why us?" as they look around and see so many others who find it so easy. How do they continue forward in the months and often even years of trying?

While we may not know why infertility is a challenge we have to go through - we can find peace, hope, patience, and trust as we turn to God. He can carry us through the hardships and help us make decisions and know how to move forward.

​

In the bible, there are many stories of faithful women who struggled to conceive. Drawing upon these, other gospel teachings, and personal stories, we will help couples learn how they can turn this difficult challenge over to God and become whole again - spiritually and emotionally.

Some people seem to thrive and blossom when they get married while some realize marriage isn't as easy as they thought and they struggle to find that joy, peace, and love they feel like they should have. 

 

No matter what state a couple's marriage is in, we all have lots of room to grow and improve. And the stronger the foundation we can build the better! Because, the kind of marriage we create will not only impact our lives, but our children's and grandchildren's lives as well.

 

Marriage has played a central role since the beginning with Adam and Eve. From the scriptures and other gospel teachings we can learn many important lessons about creating our own marriage foundation upon the rock which is Christ. We will talk about things like communication, respect, patience, fidelity, and more.

To be the best parents they can be, husbands and wives need to be united with each other and with God. When this harmony is missing problems quickly arise and struggles abound. But how do we do it and what does it mean?

In this presentation we will talk about what the bible means when it says to cleave unto our spouse and the Lord and how we can do that. We will discuss creating a shared vision for the home environment you wish to create, holding councils together, receiving inspiration and guidance, determining decisions, finding solutions, supporting each other, and more. 

​

While these components will all help to strengthen the marriage, we have this discussion through the lens of parenting and making decisions for your whole family.

While being a stay at home parent may come naturally and easily to some, others find it to be extremely challenging. Initial excitement of being at home all day with the kids quickly fades. They may feel purposeless, lonely, bored, tired, miss working, etc.

 

And although less and less parents are choosing to have either mom or dad stay at home with the kids, we believe that when at all possible it is important to do so. Many studies have shown how beneficial it is for the kids. And the nurturing and rearing of children is one of the greatest responsibilities we receive from God in this life.

 

But how do we do it then? And more importantly, how do we get out of any slump one might be stuck in and begin to truly enjoy and thrive in this career?

We will discuss divine guidance from the scriptures and time proven principles that when applied, are sure to bring everything around. God wants us to have joy and He wants us to care for our children. Both are within our reach with His help.

God has special missions for each of us , our spouses, and our children to fulfill. As we live our life in a consecrated way we will seek His will and receive the guidance and inspiration we need and be guided down the paths we need to walk on.

 

As we do so, we will be more joyful and fulfilled. We will see the hand of the Lord in our lives more and be able to be an instrument in His hands for others. We will be able to raise our children to love and serve the Lord and to one day be ready to fulfill their own missions God has for them. This new perspective will change the way our whole families' lives are lived for the better and improve the world around us.

In this lecture we will draw upon various scripture stories, like Hannah and Elkenah's, to discuss the why, how, and what it means to consecrate our families to the Lord. We will help couples begin to think about what personal missions God has for them and what changes they can begin making to align their lives with the Lord's will.

It can seem daunting to raise our children in the world today. With so much evil pervading everywhere we look and lies being paraded around as truths, how can you hope to raise righteous children? Children that will stand apart from the world and with the Lord?

Despite the tumultuous world we live in and the many temptations and deceptions from the adversary - it is possible. As we turn to the Lord and do our parts, God will help and bless our families. He will be with us and He can help us to raise what we like to call a "Zion Generation".

​

Zion is used throughout the bible to refer to special holy places appointed by the Lord where His followers could live and serve Him. It is also used to mark or distinguish these places or people for their righteousness, holiness, and closeness to the Lord. Do we not all want to raise children who will become this kind of people - righteous, holy, pure in heart, and close to the Lord?

In this lecture we will use the scriptures and divine principles to teach about how we can raise a "Zion Generation". We will discuss things we can do since the time our children are born to help cultivate within them a love for the Lord. We will also touch on various challenges we face in raising children in this day and age and ways we can combat these.
